Sue Walsh

Dog Trainer & Behaviour Consultant

Sue has always been fascinated by animal behaviour and passionate about working with dogs. With a decade of experience in working with dogs and their owners in the Nelson & Tasman region, Sue has the skills to guide you to achieving your goals with your dog. 

Sue has 3 dogs of her own – Rosie, Sprocket and Blue. They are all rescues and they all work at Dog Almighty. Check them out on the meet the team page.

Sue founded Dog Almighty in 2011 and works full time as the owner/manager as well as working hands on with dogs and their owners..

Qualifications/Certifications:

  • The School of Canine Science, Behaviour Bible, Canine Science Behaviourist. 2022 to 2024 (ongoing study).
  • Certified Dog Behaviour Consultant with International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants (IAABC) from 2018 to 2021. Supporting member 2022 to 2024.
  • Full member of Association of Pet Dog Trainers, New Zealand (APDTNZ)
  • Internship in dog training and behaviour at the San Francisco SPCA .
  • Diploma in Canine Studies with Oxford College (UK).
  • Certified graduate of the dog*tec Advanced Dog Walking Academy.
  • Degree and a masters degree in law (BCL, LLM) and a keen interest in animal welfare law.
Joanie Benge

Dog Trainer & Puppy Consultant

Joanie has been part of the Dog Almighty team for many years and in many different roles. She has assisted in all of our obedience, behaviour and puppy classes (when we still ran classes!) and has always played an active role in supporting Sue with a variety of training and behaviour cases and in particular with bootcamp training sessions. 

Joanie is currently a dog trainer and behaviour consultant at Dog Almighty. She visits clients in their own home to help them with dog training and behaviour advice. Joanie has heaps of knowledge and experience to share and gets fabulous feedback from clients. Joanie has a particular interest in puppy development and training and has recently done extra studies in this area.

To build on her existing dog behaviour and training skills, Joanie is currently studying to become a certified dog behaviourist. Joanie is working closely with Sue while she continues her studies into dog behaviour.

Helen has had many roles working with dogs over the years in England, Australia and now New Zealand. Helen lives in Motueka also offers “Doggy Homestay by Helen” – Helen would be delighted to mind your dog in her own home provided your dog is friendly and manageable with children. Kellie has always had a real love for dogs and has three dogs of her own. Kellie is a big hit with the dogs at Dog Almighty and a strong part of our dog walking team. Walking dogs has fueled Kellie’s interest in dog training and behaviour.

Louise recently joined the team at Dog Almighty and is already a big hit with all the dogs she walks. When she is not walking dogs you’ll find her riding her mountain bike in the great outdoors.

Kelsie is originally from Scotland and worked with dogs in Europe before coming to NZ. She lives with her 6 month old pup Frank. Kelsie is undertaking further studies in dog training and has a keen interest in dog behaviour. a

 

Sprocket, Blue & Rosie

Sprocket, Blue & Rosie

4-Legged Team

Sprocket, Blue & Rosie are a very important part of the team at Dog Almighty. In addition to working as skilled truffle hunters, they are also part of the training and walking team. Rosie is a dynamite demonstration dog, she’s been doing demos in classes, schools, and in virtual training for years. Sprocket is a master hunter and he keeps our rural property rodent-free. He is also fantastic at working with fearful dogs to help them gain some confidence. (Young Buck) Blue is already a skilled sniffer dog. Blue is busy make new content for our new exciting project called Club Dog Almighty.
